What is a Minority Business Enterprise(MBE)?
An MBE is a for profit enterprise, regardless of size, physically located in the United States or its trust territories, which is owned, operated (managed), controlled and governed by an ethnic‐minority group member or members -
What is an ethnic‐minority group member?
Ethnic‐minority group members are U.S. citizens who are African‐American/Black; Hispanic/Latino‐American; Native American; Asian‐Pacific American and; Asian‐Indian American. -
What is the definition of ownership?
"Ownership" by ethnic‐minority individuals means the business is at least 51% owned by such individuals or, in the case of a publicly owned business, at least 51% of the stock or shares is owned by one or more such individuals. Further, those ethnic‐minority group members control the governance of the business and manage its daily business operations.
